Trivia Night. Do you know random facts and information? Do you like to test the limits of your knowledge against others? If so, this is the event for you. Join us at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 for Trivia Night at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle. Reservations are not required for this free program. 

Book Sale. 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 8 and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 9.  You’ll find gently used books, dvds, vhs tapes, magazines, puzzles, and more at this book sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Port Orange Library.  All proceeds benefit the library. 

Blue Planet II, Episode 1: One Ocean. 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10. Using cutting-edge technology, go on a journey from the intense heat of the tropics to the planet's frozen poles to reveal new worlds and extraordinary animal behaviors. The journey starts in the tropical coral reefs, the most diverse ocean habitat. 60 minutes.

A Florida Shipwreck through Time.  2 p.m. Tuesday, July 12. Join us as Emily Jane Murray of the Florida Public Archaeology Network takes us on a journey through the stages of a shipwreck--from ship construction to underwater museum.  Reservations are not required.  

Plarn Craft. 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14. Reservations are required.  For more information, please call the library at 386-322-5152, option 4.

 Blue Planet II, Episode 2: The Deep. 2 p.m. Sunday, July 17. The deep is perhaps the most hostile environment on earth, a world of crushing pressure, brutal cold and utter darkness. Exploration has barely begun, and yet it is the largest living space on the planet. Scientists already think that there is more life in the deep than anywhere else on earth. 60 minutes.

Water Candle Craft. 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 19. Come celebrate our summer theme "Oceans of Possibility" at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 19 and create a beautiful water candle at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle. Supplies are provided and reservation is required. 

Ask a Master Gardener.  2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 19.  UF/IFAS Master Gardeners will share gardening tips and answer questions during the Ask a Master Gardener session. Residents can bring their plants for a free check-up. Reservations are not required. 

Genealogy Interest Group. 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 22. This is an informal space where you can meet and work with other family historians in a small group setting. Basic assistance with genealogy research is available. Feel free to bring your own laptop or device.  Please call 386-322-5152, option 4 to reserve a library laptop.  A very limited number are available for reservation, so call soon!  Reservations are not required to attend the session.

Blue Planet II, Episode 3: Coral Reefs. 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24. Corals build themselves homes of limestone in the warm, clear, shallow seas of the tropics. Their reefs occupy less than one tenth of one per cent of the ocean floor, yet they are home to a quarter of all known marine species. 60 minutes.

Paper Craft Club plus Adult Coloring. 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26.  Come express your creativity and design something beautiful! Paper crafters of all skill levels are welcome and are encouraged to share their knowledge and skills with others. Use our supplies or feel free to bring your own! Sponsored by the Friends of the Port Orange Regional Library. Reservations are not required. 

 Digging for Treasure: Metal Detecting in Central Florida. 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 26Have you ever seen people at the beach with metal detectors? Wonder what kind of treasure can be found on our beaches and in central Florida? How to get started with metal detecting? Wes Wade of Daytona Dig and Find Metal Detecting Club and Jim Tippett the President of the Central Florida Metal Detecting Club, will discuss their experiences metal detecting and talk about the purpose of their clubs. Come learn about metal detectors, how to get started and get your questions answered. Reservations are not required.

All about the Lyonia Preserve. 2 p.m. Friday, July 29. Staff from the Lyonia Environmental Center will discuss the Environmental Center, Lyonia Preserve, and the protected Florida Scrub Jay during this presentation at 2 p.m. Friday, July 29 at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle. The Lyonia Environmental Center's environmental specialists and volunteers promote an understanding of the county’s natural environment, the heritage it sustains, and the challenges it faces. The Lyonia Preserve is a great place to see one of Volusia County's protected species, the Florida scrub jay, in its natural habitat.
