April 1: Flight, rated R, 138 minutes: An airline pilot saves a flight from crashing, but an investigation into the malfunctions reveals something troubling. Denzel Washington received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his role. Rated R for drug and alcohol abuse, language, sexuality/nudity, and an intense action sequence.
April 8: Life of Pi, rated PG, 127 minutes: A young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor, a fearsome Bengal tiger. Ang Lee won the Best Directory Academy Award for this film.
April 15: Les Miserables, rated PG-13, 158 minutes: In 19th century France, Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole, agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's daughter Cosette. The fateful decision changes their lives forever. Ann Hathaway received the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in the film.
April 22: Arbitrage, rated R, 107 minutes: A troubled hedge fund magnate desperate to complete the sale of his trading empire makes an error that forces him to turn to an unlikely person for help. Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Roth star. Rated R for language, brief violent images, and drug use. Part of the American Library Association's annual Money Smart Week programming.
April 29: Promised Land, rated R, 106 minutes: A salesman for a natural gas company experiences life-changing events after arriving in a small town where his corporation wants to tap into the available resources. Matt Damon and Frances McDormand star. Rate R for language.
