January Friends and Library Programs


Monday Chair Yoga at the Library
Mondays - 10am

Join us as certified fitness instructor Ed Eisler leads us through a Chair Yoga program, beginner through advanced. This program repeats every Monday at 10am beginning on January 23, 2017.

 

Master Gardener Plant Clinic 
Tuesday, January 17th - 2pm
Volusia County's master gardeners will share gardening tips and answer questions during the plant clinic. Residents can bring their plants for a free check-up.
Master gardeners are volunteers who answer gardening questions at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, present horticultural classes to community groups, and staff information booths at fairs and garden shows. For more information about the county's Master Gardener Program, call the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension at 386-822-5778. 


"On the Radiola": An original play in which local playwright Karen Poulsen pays tribute to the beginning of the Golden Age of Radio.

Wednesday, January 18th - 2pm 
Join Frank (Wes Jones) and Flora (Jeanna Carley) during 1919-1920 as they entertain listeners with an amateur radio station.  The fun begins when friends Lila (Jennifer Kinsey) and Jack (Spencer Meehl) come up with their own ideas for broadcasting.  Eventually Flora and Lila’s obsession with F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Sayre lead to wild adventures On the Radiola!

Come meet Benjamin Franklin and learn about his life, accomplishments, loves, and how he became one of the greatest Americans who ever lived. Topics covered include major facts about Ben Franklin, Franklin compared to other great Americans, his electrical experiments and inventions, and Franklin and the ladies. Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher
Sunday, January 29th - 2pm
Mr. Fletcher is a nationally renowned classical guitarist who has played Carnegie Hall and other major venues. Please join us for an afternoon of beautiful classical music featuring selections from Peter's albums.
