Monday Chair Yoga at the Library
Mondays at 10am
Join us as certified fitness instructor Ed Eisler leads us through a Chair Yoga program, beginner through advanced. This program repeats every Monday at 10am.

Wednesday Tai Chi
Wednesdays at 5:30pm
Join us a certified fitness instructor Ed Eisler leads us through a tai chi (Wu Style) program, beginner through advanced, including joint looseners, breathing exercises, Qigong, and form training. This program is good for weight loss, fall prevention, increased bone density, and increased overall muscle tone and stamina. 

Irene Curran presens Agatha Christie
Tuesday, June 6th at 2pm
Join us as Irene Curran, retired teacher from N.J. talks about Agatha Christie - the mystery writer of over 80 novels who herself disappeared for eleven days! Come hear about the mystery, her life, and her novels! Agatha lived through two world wars, the Great Depression, two marriages and as a result she once said: "I like living, I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly racked with sorrow but through it all I still know quite certainly that to be alive is a grand thing!" 

Peculiar Persons in Florida History
Friday, June 9th at 2pm
Zack Zacharias, the senior curator of education and curator of history at The Museum of Arts & Sciences leads this entertaining talk featuring many of the famously peculiar people found in Florida’s history, including their crazy plots to make a fortune!  Learn about Napoleon Bonaparte’s nephew, Prince Achille Murat, who made Florida his permanent home after he was exiled from France.  Also featured will be crazy cowboy Bone Mizell, soldier of fortune William Augustus Bowles, Denys Rolle of Rolles Town and many more! 

Science Fiction Book Club

Master Gardeners Plant Clinic: Good Bugs/Bad Bugs
Tuesday, June 20th - 2pm 
Master Gardeners:  Good Bugs/Bad Bugs.  Volusia County’s master gardeners will share gardening tips and answer questions during the plant clinic. Residents can bring their plants for a free check-up.  Master gardeners are volunteers who answer gardening questions at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, present horticultural classes to community groups, and staff information booths at fairs and garden shows. For more information about the county’s Master Gardener Program, call the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension at 386-822-5778.

Get to Know Your Local Gopher Tortoise
Thursday, May 25th - 2pm
Florida's Gopher Tortoise -- a state protected species.  Learn about these wonderful creatures that play a very important role in the sustainability of Florida ecosystems.  Discover ways that you can help ensure the tortoise survives and why protecting them is so important.  Florida homeowners often find gopher tortoises taking up residence in their own backyards.  There will be discussion on what homeowners can and should do, how to enjoy the tortoise that has chosen their yard to live in, and the simple joys and pleasures of the privilege of having a tortoise live close by.  A one hour slide and film session is to be presented by Nancy Hull, FMNP Master Naturalist.
