November Friends and Library Programs

Monday Scrabble – 10 a.m.: Scrabble Club. Test your Scrabble skills against other players in our community.
 
Mondays - 10:30 a.m.: Monday Chair Yoga/Tai Chi at the Library.  Join us as certified fitness instructor Ed Eisler leads us through a Chair Yoga/Tai Chi program, beginner thru advanced. This program repeats every Monday.


November 1 – 2 p.m.: Ed Eisler presents “Pain Free Movement”.  Join us as Ed Eisler discusses how to use body mechanic principles to keep a neutral spine in everyday activities, and how this will lead to pain free movement.  He also discusses his top health solutions without drugs and their associated side effects.  This program is part one of Mr. Eisler’s Formula For Higher Functioning Health And Aging Series.


November 7 – 10 a.m.: Holiday Mugs with the Cricut.  Join us for a morning of crafting!  Space is limited.  Please call the library to register.

November 8 – 10 a.m.: Scratch Coding for Adults. Feeling left behind by your kids? Are your grandchildren talking about things you just don’t understand? Come to this coding program to learn the basics of drag and drop coding – just like what the kids are doing at school! Participants will discover how to code using Scratch by creating an interactive animation. Space is limited.  Please call the library at 386-322-5152 to register.

November 8 – 2 p.m.: “Ballad of America” presented by Don Meritt & Annette Moreau.  Please enjoy this Veterans Day musical salute featuring the greatest patriotic songs ever written, presented by Don and Annette with pride, reverence and honesty that touches every heart.

November 9 – 2 p.m.: Folk Singer Sofia Talvik. Swedish-born folk singer Sofia Talvik brings an unmistakably Nordic flavor to traditional Americana folk music. Sofia was the first Swedish female artist to perform at Lollapalooza and has performed multiple times at SXSW music festival in Austin. Her captivating music is a unique combination of her Scandinavian background and American musical experience. This will be a truly one-of-a-kind performance you do not want to miss!

November 13 – 4 p.m.: Holiday Green Screen. . Come pose in front of our Mobile S.T.E.A.M. Lab green screen for a holiday photo! You will be able to choose from a variety of backgrounds for a picture that you can give your family and friends. Feel free to bring props and dress up in any color except green! Families welcome!

November 15 – 2 p.m.: Ed Eisler presents “Adding Zip Through Improved Posture.” Learn how improving your posture can help prevent arthritis, degenerative diseases, and improve overall wellness.  This program is part two of Mr. Eisler’s Formula For Higher Functioning Health And Aging Series.

November 16 – 10 a.m.: PAINT-errific! Have you wanted to try painting but have been waiting for the right chance to get your bristles wet? Unleash your inner artist and paint in a relaxed atmosphere, no experience necessary! All materials are supplied, but space is limited. Registration is required.

November 20 – 2 p.m.: Master Gardener Plant Clinic. UF/IFAS Master Gardeners share gardening tips and answer questions during the plant clinic. Residents can bring their plants for a free check-up.

November 27 – 10 a.m.: Paper Crafting Club. Calling all paper crafters! Join us for a morning of paper crafting with fellow creative minds. We will provide supplies for a simple craft, or bring your own projects to work on! 

November 27 – 2 p.m.: Jonathan Brady presents “Holiday Music & More”. Please join us as for an afternoon of smooth music as Jonathan Brady performs a wide variety of seasonal favorites to help us to usher in the holiday season.   He’ll also include jazz standards of the 1920’s through the 50’s and classic and soft rock tunes of the 50’s through the 80’s.  Jonathan’s vocal style was inspired by Bing Crosby, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, and Mel Torme.  

November 29 – 10 a.m.: Knitting Club: Calling all knitters (and fans of other fiber arts), we’ve started a knitting club! Socialize and share your wisdom! Everyone from never-held-a-needle-novice to advanced knitters are welcome. Feel free to bring your own projects, or use our yarn and needles during the program! 

November 29 – 2 p.m.: Ed Eisler presents “Plant Based Healing.” Learn how to improve health, vitality, energy, and lose weight using whole foods and without supplements.  Mr. Eisler also presents tips on mastering emotions and achieving goals.  This program is part three of Mr. Eisler’s Formula For Higher Functioning Health And Aging Series.
