Join us as third generation Port Orange resident Glenda Cardwell Coursen offers memories of growing up in Port Orange. Jennifer Gill of the Port Orange Historical Trust also provides an overview of the Port Orange Historical Museum and History Center.

Public Health Preparedness:  Are You Ready?

Do you love to cook?  Join our club!  Our theme this month is Fall Recipes/Comfort Foods.  Bring a dish to share (appetizer, salad, main dish, side dish, or dessert) along with the recipe.

Port Orange Library Community Health Fair
October 9 – 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Join us as community organizations present information on a variety of health services and issues. Participating organizations include Walgreens, Heart of Volusia, Benton House, Volusia County Health Department, Strategies Inc. ABA, Halifax Health, Stephanie Nicole Skin Care, Original Strength, Port Orange Chiropractic, and more.  Flu, Pneumonia, and Hepatitis A shots will be provided by Walgreens---please bring your insurance information.

Knitting Club

Do you need to lose a few pounds, want to reverse diabetes, or learn how to make better food choices for optimal health?  Registered dietitian Sharon Herr will lead a group discussion on the benefits of healthy living and how you can get started on the path to good health.

Ask a Master Gardener

UF/IFAS Master Gardeners share gardening tips about Cool Weather Gardening and answer questions during the plant clinic. Residents can bring their plants for a free check-up.

Genealogy Lab
October 16 – 9:30 a.m.
Familiar with Ancestry.com, Fold3, or Heritage Quest Online but need some assistance?  Register for our Genealogy Lab.  Use our laptops or your own for dedicated genealogy research with library databases.  Space is limited and registration is required.  Walk ins welcome if space is available.  This lab is a work-at-your-own-pace setting for those with some genealogy experience and is not a formal class.

Dr. Mary Custureri, author and President of Taylor and Seale Publishing, and an editor from Taylor and Seale Publishing will discuss how to send out successful query letters to publishers and literary agents.

Country Singer Bobby Meeks

Join us for an afternoon of toe-tapping fun as Bobby Meeks sings original songs and covers the classics.  You can’t help but have a smile on your face during and after his performance!

Genealogist Jim Lannin presents an overview of DNA testing for Genealogy and a comparison of the various DNA testing companies.  He will also discuss genetics and health testing that these companies now provide.

Paper Craft Club
