March 2022 Programs at the Library

 

Dianne Jacoby presents Ophelia—Florida Sufragette. 2 p.m. Friday, March 11.  In this one-woman performance, Dianne Jacoby gives us a glimpse into the life of a Florida Suffragette. A woman's right to vote was granted 102 years ago in 1920 with the passage of the 19th Amendment of the Constitution. The historical drama 'Ophelia, Florida Suffragette' honors this event.  Ophelia, a Florida girl from a privileged family, shares the events that changed her life as she became a placard carrying Suffragist in Washington D.C.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Port Orange Library. Ask a Master Gardener.  2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 15.  UF/IFAS Master Gardeners will share gardening tips and answer questions during the Ask a Master Gardener session. Women of the Light: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Did you know that the US Lighthouse Service was the first Federal agency to hire women in occupations other than clerical, custodial, or educational? Come meet Lime Rock Lighthouse keeper Ida Lewis in a first-person interpretation by Docent Jackie Mann from Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Museum.  Genealogy Interest Group. 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 25. This is an informal space where you can meet and work with other family historians in a small group setting. Basic assistance with genealogy research is available. Feel free to bring your own laptop or device.  Please call 386-322-5152, option 4 to reserve a library laptop.  A very limited number are available for reservation, so call soon!  Reservations are not required to attend the session.

Paper Craft Club. 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29.  Come express your creativity and design something beautiful! Paper crafters of all skill levels are welcome and are encouraged to share their knowledge and skills with others. Use our supplies or feel free to bring your own!  Functional Fibromyalgia—A Natural Approach.  2 p.m. March 29.  Kimberly Jenkins Boehm, FDN Practitioner, will discuss drug-free, natural solutions to restoring function and health in those with fibromyalgia including proven physical techniques and supplementation. Learn what fibromyalgia is and how hormones, rest and stress all affect Fibro.
