Monday Tai Chi at the Library

DIY Wednesday:  Paper Flower Craft
August 7 – 10:00 a.m.
Join us for a handmade flower project, no Cricut required.  Supplies are limited so registration is required.


Knitting Club
August 8 – 10:00 a.m.
Calling all knitters (and fans of other fiber arts), we’ve started a knitting club! Socialize and share your wisdom! Everyone from never-held-a-needle-novice to advanced knitters are welcome. Feel free to bring your own projects, or use our yarn and needles during the program!


Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings program
August 8 – 2:00 p.m.
Celebrate Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' birthday with ERAU Humanities Associate Professor Ashley Andrews Lear.  Professor Lear presents a talk on the friendship between the beloved Florida author and Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Ellen Glasgow.  She discusses the deep connection between these two pioneers of American literature who broke the mold for women writers of their time.


Healthy Living Group
August 10 – 11:00 a.m. 
Do you need to lose a few pounds, are you tired, want to reverse diabetes, or learn how to make better food choices for optimal health?  Registered Dietician Sharon Herr will lead a group discussion on the benefits of healthy living and how you can get started on the path to good health.


Cooking Club
August 13 – 12:00 p.m.
Join us for the first meeting of our new monthly food club!  Bring your favorite dish to share (appetizer, main dish, side dish, or dessert) along with the recipe.  We will be picking themes for future meetings!


Hurricane Prep: Tech Style
August 13 – 2:00 p.m.
When making hurricane preparedness plans, don’t forget your documents and electronics.  Librarian Sandy Hutchins, who has a disaster information specialist certification from the National Library of Medicine, will share techy tips and will explain which documents are vital, where to back them up, and how to protect them. She will also discuss apps that will keep you in the know and ways to protect your electronics during a storm.


The Five Wishes Living Will
August 15 – 2:00 p.m.
Please join us as Deb Korfage-Amborn, Community Relations Coordinator for Halifax Health Hospice, presents information about "Five Wishes", a living will that discusses your personal, emotional, and spiritual needs as well as your medical wishes in the event that you cannot speak for yourself due to a serious illness.


Science Fiction Book Club

Have you wanted to try painting, but are waiting for the right chance to get your bristles wet? Unleash your inner artist and paint in a relaxed atmosphere. There is no experience necessary! All materials are supplied, but space is limited. Registration is required.


Writer’s Workshop:  Getting Started Writing Nonfiction

Dr. Mary Custureri, President of the Daytona Writer's Guild, and Dr. Lynn Hawkins, college professor and prolific local author, will discuss the necessary steps to success in writing non-fiction works.


Master Gardener Plant Clinic
August 20 – 2:00 p.m.
UF/IFAS Master Gardeners share gardening tips and answer questions during the plant clinic. Residents can bring their plants for a free check-up.


Genealogy Lab
August 21 – 9:30 a.m.
Familiar with Ancestry.com, Fold3, or Heritage Quest Online but need some assistance?  Register for our Genealogy Lab.  Use our laptops or your own for dedicated genealogy research with library databases.  Space is limited and registration is required.  Walk ins welcome if space is available.


Elder Law:  What it Means for You and Your Loved Ones

Erica Johnson, an attorney at law who specializes in Elder Law, begins her series of talks for seniors on how to prepare your legal and financial journey into the Golden Years.


Truly Off the Beaten Path
August 23 – 2:00 p.m.
Truly Off the Beaten Path  presented by James 'Zach' Zacharias from the Museum of Arts and Sciences.  Discover natural wonders, scenic drives, and historic places not found in most of the books that promote “off the beaten path” destinations in Florida.


Paper Craft Club
August 27 – 10 a.m.
Calling all paper crafters! Join us for a morning of paper crafting with fellow creative minds. We will provide supplies for a simple craft, or bring your own projects to work on!
