Free Comic Book Day. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Stop by the Port Orange Library and
participate in Free Comic Book Day, a national event celebrating all comic
books. Free comic books will be available, while supplies last, as well as a 10
a.m. showing of Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse, comic book trivia at
2 p.m. and other activities running all day long. Attendees are encouraged to
come dressed in cosplay and check out the library's extensive graphic novel

Wildlife in Your Backyard. 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10. In this presentation Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC)
Biologist Lauren Barth will highlight some of the common wildlife species with
which we share the landscape in Florida and discuss ways to coexist with them.
Viewing Florida's many species of wildlife is often an enjoyable way to spend
an afternoon, but when wildlife become too comfortable in neighborhoods they
can come into conflict with people. This presentation provides an overview of
wildlife awareness and pet safety techniques, as well as ways to keep wildlife
wild while enjoying your untamed neighbors from a distance. Reservations are

community and library staff present short workshops and programs on everything

Fascinating Stories from Our National
Parks. 2 p.m. Thursday, May 26. Florida author Penny Musco will share intriguing facts—and
more— about the National Parks with Volusia County library patrons in Fascinating Stories from our National Parks,
an hour-long secular program based on her book
‘Life Lessons from the National Parks: Meeting God in America’s Most

Genealogy Interest Group. 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 27. This is an informal space where you can meet and work with other
family historians in a small group setting. Basic assistance with genealogy
